For over 79 years the Main Line Symphony Orchestra (MLSO), a non-profit community orchestra, has striven to be inclusive and broadly draw musicians and audience members from Philadelphia and its suburbs to our home on the Main Line. We are now pleased to announce a program that will create new opportunities for musicians to further that goal.
MLSO’s Bridging the Gap Fellowship program is designed to increase cultural diversity in our orchestra and help bridge the gap for dedicated musicians as they transition from college programs to professional careers in music.
We are offering four stipends of $1,250 to be awarded to talented string musicians who are high school graduates, no more than 30 years old, belong to an ethnic minority that is underrepresented in classical music performance1, and are planning to make a career in music. Stipends are renewable for one additional year.
Fellows must attend at least 5 rehearsals per concert and all scheduled performances.
